Betula utilis Doorenbos

Height: 1,7–2,2 m

This species of birch is especially known for its white, papery bark, which peels over time, revealing newer white layers beneath. A medium-sized tree, it usually grows to 10-15 meters in height. The crown of the tree is regular, oval or conical in shape. Its foliage is green in summer and turns golden yellow in autumn. The birch prefers sunny spots but also tolerates partial shade. It prefers well-structured soil rich in nutrients. Its water needs are moderate. It can be planted as a specimen tree, in parks and larger gardens, or as an avenue tree, where its striking bark and elegant appearance can create an outstanding visual effect
